Crash Alert: 41-year-old pedestrian dies in San Marcos hit-and-run accident

AUSTIN, TX – Dwight Garret Thomas, a 41-year-old San Marcos man, died after he was struck by a vehicle on Monday night. According to the Austin-American Statesman, San Marcos PD responded to the accident at 1600 Post Road at around 10 p.m. Thomas had been walking down the sidewalk or bike lane with another man when a vehicle hit him and fled the scene.

Medics transported Thomas to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle where he died later that night from his injuries. According to police, the suspected vehicle is a maroon 2002 – 2005 Ford Explorer. The Explorer likely has a broken headlight and damage to the front, right side. Anyone with information should contact 512-753-2182.
