Crash alert: 1 injured in crash involving train and vehicle in north Austin

AUSTIN, TX – Emergency crews were on the scene of a crash involving a train and a vehicle in north Austin Tuesday morning, KVUE reported.

Authorities said a MetroRail train collided with the vehicle in the 3100 block of W. Parmer Lane at about 10:50 a.m. Austin-Travis County EMS said one person sustained serious injuries that were potentially life-threatening. The person was rushed to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center.

There were several passengers on the train at the time who were taken to their destinations, according to CapMetro.  The train left the scene of the crash at about 1 p.m.

CapMetro said it would conduct a comprehensive safety review of the incident and support the Austin Police Department in its own investigation. No information was immediately released on the circumstances that led to the crash.
