Crash alert: 3 hospitalized following crash of stolen truck in Austin

AUSTIN, TX – Three people were injured, one critically, when a stolen truck was involved in a crash in southeast Austin early Tuesday, CBS Austin reported.

The incident began when police spotted the truck being driven erratically in the downtown area and determined it was stolen after running a check of the license plate.

A pursuit was initiated, but it was eventually halted over safety concerns. But a short time later, police said the driver of the truck crashed into another vehicle on Cardinal Loop and E SH 72 Service Road WB at about 12:30 a.m.

The three injured people were hospitalized.  One was reported to have life-threatening injuries, while the other two were seriously hurt. It is not clear which victim was the driver of the stolen truck.

The incident remains under investigation by Austin Police.
