Crash alert: 6 hospitalized, including 1 child, following wreck in southeast Austin

AUSTIN, TX – A multi-vehicle crash in southeast Austin Sunday night sent six people to area hospitals, including one child.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene in the 9900 block of South U.S. Highway 183 at 8:11 p.m., according to CBS Austin. They extricated one person who had been pinned inside their vehicle.

All of the injured were declared to be trauma alerts. The child, who suffered critical injuries in the accident, was rushed to Dell Children’s Medical Center.  Two adults were transported to the South Austin Medical Center.  One had life-threatening injuries, while the other had injuries reported as serious and potentially life-threatening.

Two other adults were seriously injured and taken to Dell Seton Medical Center. The sixth victim had injuries that were not life-threatening, and was taken to the South Austin Medical Center.

Details about what led to the crash were not yet available. Drivers were advised to expect traffic delays and road closures while the accident scene was being cleared and investigated.
