Crash Alert: Driver arrested for driving intoxicated during winter storm

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, a man has been arrested for driving while intoxicated and causing a stranded motorist to fall to his death from a highway overpass.

Eric Anthony Torres, 33, was checking his car for damage after hitting a retaining wall on US-290 at Mopac when the suspect, Victor Sverdlin, lost control of his vehicle. Sverdlin tried to avoid hitting Torres’s car but was unable to. The struck vehicle then forced the victim over the wall.

Torres was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Sverdlin, also 33, was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence. This incident remains under investigation.
