NEW BRAUNFELS, TX – According to KXAN, a driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter following a fatal crash on Highway 46.
The accident took place near Rock Street early yesterday morning, at around 2:15 a.m. A Dodge pickup truck and a Kia Optima crashed head-on after the truck entered oncoming traffic.
Sevannah Shay Mata, a 28-year-old passenger in the Kia, was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver of the vehicle was hospitalized.
The truck’s driver, identified as 33-year-old Jacob Perez, was arrested after he failed sobriety tests. He and his 6-year-old daughter suffered minor injuries.
