Crash alert: Hit-and-run driver sought after woman fatally struck in northeast Austin

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities are searching for the driver who struck and killed a woman in northeast Austin and left the scene Thursday night, reports KXAN.

Police and emergency crews responded to the scene at the intersection of East St. Johns Avenue and Cameron Road at about 9:40 p.m.  Austin Police said the victim, a woman in her 50s, was run over by a vehicle while lying in the road.  The vehicle was later located but the driver remains at large.

Drivers were advised to expect delays and road closures while investigators were gathering evidence at the scene.
