Crash Alert: Intoxicated driver facing manslaughter charges after Northeast Austin crash

AUSTIN, TX – An Austin man is facing a second-degree felony manslaughter charge following a collision that resulted in the death of a passenger Saturday night.

According to KXAN, 27-year-old Juan Manuel Aboytes-Garcia crashed his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado into a tree within the 8500 block of Farm to Market Road 969.

Emergency responders pronounced an unidentified passenger in Aboytes’ vehicle dead at the scene.

The driver was transported to a local hosptial where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and took a breathalyzer test. Officials concluded that Aboytes’ blood-alcohol level was .146, much higher than the legal limit of .08. He was subsequently booked into jail on an intoxicated manslaughter charge.
