Crash alert: Person hospitalized after car crashes into creek in West Austin

AUSTIN, TX – Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash in West Austin Wednesday afternoon after a car toppled into a creek.

According to KVUE, the accident occurred in the 1800 block of Westlake Drive at about 1:50 p.m. Austin-Travis County EMS arrived after the vehicle went about 200 feet down an embankment and ended up in several feet of water.

Crews were able to extricate the victim, who was declared a trauma alert. The person was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with injuries that were described as potentially life-threatening.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area while the rescue efforts were underway.
