Crash Alert: UPDATE Victim identified in deadly North Austin crash

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities in North Austin have released the identity of the 22-year-old victim of a fatal one-vehicle collision Monday evening.

Eber Misael Castillo Ortiz was killed when the driver of a Chevy Silverado in which he was a passenger careened off the road and crashed into a stone mailbox in the 500 block of east Grady Drive, according to Austin police.

The driver fled on foot, leaving behind a badly injured Castillo Ortiz. Emergency services attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver in the crash.
