SAN MARCOS, TX – A Georgia man died last Saturday night in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on the highway in south San Marcos.
According to KXAN, the incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. in the 4200 block of TX-123. This is just southwest of Bowie Elementary School and north of Rattler Road.
Police say that 33-year-old Michael Lamar Rucker was struck on the southbound side of the highway by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
A second vehicle also hit Rucker in the roadway. That driver stopped to help the victim and to speak with authorities.
Rucker died at the scene of the accident.
Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver. They believe the suspect may have been driving a white Ford pickup truck from the early 2000s.
