GEORGETOWN, TX – A man died one week after he was hospitalized with injuries caused by a major accident along the interstate in Georgetown.
According to KVUE, the collision occurred on Tuesday, September 2nd, on the southbound side of I-35 at TX-29, which is just northeast of Wolf Ranch Town Center.
Police say that a semi-truck hauling an excavator exceeded the maximum clearance height and struck the TX-29 overpass, causing concrete from the bridge to fall. Debris from the incident struck the windshield of a pickup truck, at which point the driver lost control and crashed.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Jonathon Scott Morgan, died at the hospital on Tuesday, September 9th.
It’s unclear if anyone else sustained injuries in the accident.
The family of Jonathon Morgan is seeking legal recourse against both the truck driver and the trucking company.
The investigation is ongoing.
