LLANO CO., TX- A fiery two-vehicle collision claimed two lives this past Sunday morning in east-central Llano County, reports CBS Austin.
The accident happened around 5 a.m. on East Highway 71 south of FM 307, southeast of Llano, and about 70 miles northwest of Austin.
Police haven’t shared any details regarding the circumstances of the crash except to say that one of the two vehicles caught fire upon impact.
Two victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their names to the public.
Medics transported two additional victims to area hospitals with injuries of unknown severity.
Officials closed Highway 71 in the area of the collision while emergency crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene. All lanes re-opened within five hours.
A full investigation is underway.
