LEE CO., TX – A head-on collision along the highway in western Lee County claimed two lives on Sunday evening, reports KBTX 3.
Shortly after 5 p.m., emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle accident along TX-21 near Farm to Market 2440, or Manheim Road. This is about an hour east of Austin, just northwest of Giddings.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a Nissan Altima and a Chevy Silverado collided head on when the driver of the pickup veered into oncoming traffic.
The two occupants of the Nissan, identified as Richard and Isabella Ungerman, died at the scene of the crash.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the incident thus far.
Police are working to determine the condition of the wrong-way driver at the time of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
