SAN MARCOS, TX – A 46-year-old man sustained fatal injuries last Wednesday in a solo crash along the interstate in San Marcos.

According to San Marcos Daily Record, the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on the northbound side of I-35 near the ramp for exit 204. This is in the Sunset Acres neighborhood, just southwest of TX-123.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the victim lost control of his Jeep, causing it to overturn and crash. The impact of the collision ejected the unrestrained driver, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Authorities identified the deceased as John Stockton Matthews of Canyon Lake.

There were no passengers in the Jeep at the time of the accident.

Officials closed roads in the area of the crash while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
