AUSTIN, TX – One person went to the hospital Monday after a vehicle struck them along a major roadway in downtown Austin, reports CBS Austin.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., emergency teams responded to West Cesar Chavez Street between North Lamar Boulevard and Walter Seaholm Drive. This is just north of Town Lake and south of Sand Beach Park.
Police haven’t shared any details regarding the circumstances of the accident. It’s unclear if the pedestrian was walking in a designated crosswalk when the crash occurred.
Medics transported the pedestrian to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A driver has not been named publicly, but officials also have not referred to the incident as a hit-and-run crash.
