AUSTIN, TX – APD arrested a 54-year-old man last Thursday in connection to a drunk driving crash that killed a motorcyclist.
According to KVUE, crews were called to the 1700 block of South Pleasant Valley Road shortly before 9:30 p.m. to assist with a fatal accident.
The preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV struck a motorcycle on South Pleasant Valley Road near East Riverside Drive.
Medics transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the collision. Authorities identified the victim as 34-year-old Eliasib Cortes Vargas.
Police arrested the driver of the SUV, identified as 54-year-old Thomas Ajanel Chan, on an initial DUI charge. Chan may face additional charges.
