SPICEWOOD, TX – Texas DPS is investigating a wrong-way collision that killed a teen last Thursday in the northwest suburbs of Austin.
According to CBS Austin, the fatal accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on TX-71 near Gregg Drive in the community of Spicewood. This is southwest of Krause Springs and the Spicewood Airport.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a car and a diesel tanker collided head on when the driver of the former vehicle entered oncoming traffic.
Authorities declared the wrong-way driver deceased at the scene, identifying the victim as Quincy Jette.
The truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. It’s unclear if they received treatment at the hospital.
Motorists encountered lane closures on TX-71 in the area of the accident while emergency teams worked at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
