BLANCO CO., TX – Three people died, and three more sustained injuries Wednesday afternoon in a major crash in central Blanco County.
According to KVUE, the accident happened around noon at the intersection of Ranch to Market Road 1323 and US-281 near Johnson City. This is about an hour west of Austin.
Police say that the driver of a Chevrolet Trax failed to yield to a southbound Toyota Tacoma while turning left from Ranch to Market 1323 onto US-281 northbound. This initial crash pushed the Tacoma into the path of a northbound Toyota 4Runner, and the two vehicles impacted.
Medics transported the drivers of the Tacoma and the Trax along with a passenger from the 4Runner to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
The driver of the 4Runner, an adult passenger in the Tacoma, and a 4-year-old passenger in the Tacoma died at the scene of the wreck.
Authorities identified the deceased as 71-year-old Larry Higgins, 27-year-old Annett Morales, and 4-year-old Carlos Morales IV.
A full investigation is underway.
