AUSTIN, TX – Police responded to an injury collision involving a stolen pickup and a bus in central Austin on Thursday morning.
According to Fox 7 Austin, the incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. at the intersection of East 53rd Street and Duval Street. This is west of I-35 and south of Koenig Lane.
Authorities say that a stolen Ford F-250 evaded multiple police cruisers before crashing into a Cap Metro bus. This initial accident caused the bus to hit a third vehicle before impacting with a phone pole.
Medics transported three people from the scene to an area hospital with minor injuries. Two people received medical attention at the scene but did not require hospitalization.
Both the driver of the stolen pickup truck and a passenger ran from the site of the accident. Authorities located and arrested the driver but have not yet released the suspect’s name to the public. The passenger is still at large.
A full investigation is underway.
