AUSTIN, TX – One person went to the hospital this weekend after a vehicle struck them along the interstate in central Austin.
According to KVUE, the incident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the southbound side of I-35 near Capital Plaza.
At this time, it’s unclear if the pedestrian was walking along the shoulder or in the roadway. Police say that two vehicles stopped to render aid following the collision. The driver or drivers involved have not yet been identified.
Medics transported the victim to an area hospital with critical injuries.
Officials closed the southbound side of I-35 between East 51st Street and Highway 290 while EMS assisted the victim and crews worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
