ELGIN, TX- Two fatalities have been reported in connection to a multi-car collision that happened along the highway in north Bastrop County.
According to Fox 7 Austin, the accident occurred over the Labor Day weekend on US-290 at Saratoga Farms Boulevard in west Elgin.
Just before midnight Saturday, several vehicles crashed, and two cars ignited. Elgin Police haven’t yet disclosed the cause of the accident.
A McDade man died at the scene of the collision. Authorities identified him as 66-year-old Robbie Carter.
Medics airlifted at least four people to area hospitals with injuries. One of the patients, identified as 13-year-old Yareli Padierna, died after transport.
A full investigation is underway.
