AUSTIN, TX – At least one person died Wednesday night in a major accident along the highway in east-central Austin, reports KVUE.
The collision occurred shortly prior to 7 p.m. on US-290 between I-35 and Berkman Drive. This is in the Coronado Hills neighborhood.
Police haven’t disclosed the cause of the crash, the number of vehicles involved, or the names of the victims. Aside from the reported fatality, it’s unclear if anyone else sustained injuries in the wreck.
Officials closed both sides of US-290 as well as the I-35 and 290 flyovers while emergency teams assisted the victims and crews worked to clear the scene.
All lanes re-opened within three hours.
