GEORGETOWN, TX – A fatal auto-pedestrian crash along the interstate in Georgetown has been classified as a possible suicide, reports KXAN.
The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday on the southbound side of I-35 at Lakeway Drive, which is just east of Georgetown Executive Airport.
The investigation thus far indicates that a 24-year-old man jumped from the bridge on Lakeway Drive into traffic on the interstate, sustaining fatal injuries.
It’s unclear if the pedestrian was then struck by one or more vehicles, or if the incident caused a secondary crash.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.
Officials closed the southbound side of I-35 near Lakeway Drive while emergency crews worked at the scene. All lanes re-opened shortly before 2:45 p.m.
