TEMPLE, TX – A 64-year-old bicyclist sustained fatal injuries last Sunday in a crash involving an SUV in north-central Bell County.
According to Fox 44 News, the accident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Prairie View Road and Hilliard Road in northwest Temple. This is about 68 miles northeast of Austin.
Police say that a southbound VW Tiguan struck an eastbound bicycle when the cyclist failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection.
The bicyclist, identified as Jeannette Kay Young of Temple, died after transport to an area hospital.
The driver of the SUV did not sustain injuries in the accident and did stop to render aid and speak with authorities.
