TEMPLE, TX – A fatality has been reported in connection to a solo crash that happened Wednesday in northeast Bell County.
According to Killeen Daily Herald, the accident happened sometime before 9:30 a.m. on the northbound side of I-35 near Exit 305. This is between TX-363 and Kevin Reilly Lane in northeast Temple, about 68 miles northeast of Austin.
Police say that for unknown reasons, an unidentified driver lost control of their vehicle, left I-35, and collided with a concrete barrier. The impact of the crash caused the car to ignite, killing the driver at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
Officials closed the northbound side of I-35 in the area of the crash for several hours while crews gathered evidence and worked at the scene.
