AUSTIN, TX – A woman died Thursday night when a vehicle struck her along the highway in the Lakeway area of northwest Austin.

According to KXAN, the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on FM 620 near Bowling Lane. This is just southwest of Lake Travis Elementary School.

Police haven’t yet specified whether the victim was walking in a designated crosswalk when the crash occurred, nor have they shared any details about the driver.

The pedestrian died at the scene of the wreck. Authorities have not released her name to the public.

Officials closed FM 620 in the area of the accident for nearly two hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.
